Best restaurant for dessert lovers….

This week we tried Pollen Street Social and for the dessert lovers amongst you – this is the place for you!  Nestled behind Regent Street in London’s West End, this restaurant not only has a stylish cocktail bar but it’s own dessert bar where you can watch the pastry chefs prepare your creation.  The restauant has (only last week) just received it’s first michellin star and we can see why!  We started off with “day of truth” cocktails in the bar which were served by a very gorgeous waiter and arrived in a billow of dry ice – always nice to start the evening with some drama.  We then moved onto a selection of English tapas, pretty much ordering everything on the menu from pork cheek to triple cooked duck fat chips.

After some prosecco, people watching and main course it was time to move to the dessert bar which is by far the best seat in the house.  Positioned beside the full  length window which looks into the kitchen you can watch the chefs in full flow and each dish being meticulously checked by head chef Jason Atherton.  Behind the dessert bar the pasty chefs whip up a selection of mouth wateringly delicious puddings and give you a running commentary throughout!  If you try one dessert make it the rice pudding – could not be further from school dinners!

This restaurant is great to go to with friends or dates – as well as offering tasting and a la carte menus  in the main restaurant, the tapas bar menu and dessert bar are a nice alternative and only a stones throw from Oxford Street make it the perfect post shopping venue.

The icing on the cake was the gift when we left – not only do they give you dinner but they provide next morning’s breakfast in the form of mini muffins straight from the kitchen and herbal tea bags – a restaurant that’s thought of everything!  For reservations and menus check out the website.
